Memories of my Grandma

Miss Mary Moody reminds me so much of my grandmother, Julia Jett Stephens, who lived on Travis Street in Taylor for many years until her passing in 1982. The photo of Miss Mary in her upstairs office takes me back to what my grandmother looked like in the 1960s/1970s, right down to the style of glasses. So does this pink bowl. My grandmother loved pink!

This beautiful rose bowl is part of Fenton's Silver Crest line and is on display at the Moody Museum. This mid-century modern piece was most likely pressed in the mid to late 1940s and is in pristine condition.

The Fenton Art Glass Company was founded in 1905 and became one of America's most prominent producers of handmade glass, known for its vibrant colors, pressed patterns, and innovations like Carnival Glass and Hobnail. Fenton was especially popular from the 1930s through the 1970s for its decorative glassware, including pieces like the Silver Crest series. The company ceased traditional glass production in 2011, but its legacy remains strong among collectors.
