The Times, They are A-Changin'
Rip Van Winkle was written by Washington Irving in 1819 and is a classic short story about change and what might happen if life passes you by.
Dan Moody’s childhood book, published in the late 1800s, is just one of the hundreds of artifacts available to view at the museum. I wonder if he ever teased his father, Dan'l Moody, about looking like Old Rip Van Winkle. My guess is probably so.
In addition to the book, the antique pinched-nose glasses (pince-nez) were popular in the late 1800s and early 1900s. They were often worn for reading as they were not cumbersome and simply pinched on the bridge of the reader’s nose.
