What I Learned Today at the Dan Moody Museum: Remembering V.A. & Mildred Anthony.

While researching information about O.L. Price and Blackshear, I happened upon the story of two educators who impacted the youth of Taylor for many years.

Vernon Augustus Anthony (1898–1977) and Mildred Dale (Boykins) Anthony (1906–2002) spent their entire lives in Taylor and dedicated themselves to education at O.L. Price School.

V.A. served as a beloved principal for decades, with yearbook messages from the 1940s–60s showing how deeply he cared for his students. Later, a yearbook was dedicated in his honor.

Mildred taught home economics—sewing, cooking, and child care—impacting generations of young women.

Both are buried in Taylor Cemetery and should always be remembered as pillars of Taylor’s educational history.
