Always a supporter of public education:
Governor Moody's mother "Nannie" was a local school teacher prior to marrying his father, Dan'l Moody. Dan, while in office, knowing full well the challenges of public education as he grew up in a household full of teachers, implemented preliminary reforms for schools in Texas. He advocated for a better funding system for rural schools, better pay for educators, and additional funds for higher education. Moody successfully increased funding for education during his two terms.
